How to declutter your living area without throwing anything (important) away

Do you feel like there are more things to do than time in the day?

Do you find yourself feeling frazzled and overwhelmed? Do I need to say it again ?- You're not alone! There's an entire industry devoted to helping people like us, called "decluttering." But before you hire someone or buy a book on how to declutter your home, try these three things. They might just change your life for good!

Declutter your living area by sorting items into categories

Start by picking one small space to declutter. Keeping the living space simple will help you stay focused and motivated. Take everything out of that one space, take a picture of it, then put every single item back in that space. Now start sorting them into categories: trash, donate, keep. Once everything is sorted into categories it will be easier to tackle the task of getting rid of things that are no longer needed or wanted.

Sort through clothes and donate or toss anything that doesn't fit

Sort through your clothes and donate any that do not fit and toss anything that's outdated, stained or torn. It's also a good idea to purchase some storage boxes and invest in a clothes rack to hang clothes you don't wear often. This way they can stay fresh and ready to wear for when you want to wear them.

Clean up after yourself - don't leave dishes in the sink or dirty clothes lying around

One of the biggest things to start with when it comes to decluttering is cleanliness. Make sure that you're doing a thorough job cleaning up after yourself - don't leave dishes in the sink or dirty clothes lying around, because these things can pile up quickly and lead to a cluttered space. Instead, do a quick clean-up before you move on to other projects, and keep a basket near your door so dirty laundry can be put away as soon as it's brought in.

Clutter often occurs in the kitchen, living room, craft room and bathroom - so start there by going through everything and throwing out anything that doesn't serve a purpose.

Decluttering is a process that can be daunting to even the most organized person. However, by following these simple steps you’ll find it much easier and make more progress in less time! The first step is sorting your items into categories- trash, donate, keep. This will help you get rid of things that are no longer needed or wanted but still have some value. Next clean up after yourself- don't leave dishes in the sink or dirty clothes lying around because these things can pile up quickly and lead to a cluttered space. Keep decluttering until every single room has been tackled for clutter - this might mean tackling one small area at a time like the kitchen, living room, craft room or bathroom where clutter often occurs before
